Spring Weekend 2017 is approaching quickly! Spring Weekend will be held from Thursday, April 20th through Saturday, April 22nd. Does your student organization, university program, or department want to sponsor an event? All on-campus events, whether they are a part of the official Spring Weekend schedule or not, must be submitted and approved by the Spring Weekend Planning Committee.
Event Submission Process
Once your Spring Weekend event application is submitted, you will be contacted by one of the Spring Weekend Coordinators, a student leader who oversees the planning of all components of Spring Weekend. You will then meet with the Spring Weekend Coordinator to discuss the details of your event and how it fits into Spring Weekend. This is your chance to be creative and apply the flexible themes of “UConn Learns, UConn Cares, and UConn Serves” to an event or activity, big or small, that your organization would like to host. The person who submits the event application or a proxy, are invited and strongly encouraged to attend Spring Weekend Programming Committee meetings, which are held bi-weekly during the early planning stages and increase to weekly meetings as Spring Weekend approaches.
Role of the Planning Committee
Together, the Spring Weekend Planning Committee, made up of the four Spring Weekend Coordinators and all of the Event Coordinators that have submitted event proposals and been approved, work together to shape the overall experience of Spring Weekend. Thanks to ideas and contributions suggested by student leaders and campus partners last year, Spring Weekend hosted events such as a Cultural Center Open House, OOzeball, a Food Truck Festival, nationally known comedians and speakers, and so much more!
Goals and Policies for 2017
This year, Spring Weekend is open to incorporating even more events than prior years! Spring Weekend would like to encourage all previous event sponsors to reflect on their past events and submit a new and exciting event for 2017. As a reminder, all events hosted on the UConn-Storrs campus during the dates of Thursday, April 20th through Saturday, April 22nd must be submitted to the Spring Weekend Planning Committee through the application below!
As a reminder, only UConn students are permitted to attend the events hosted during Spring Weekend, regardless if the event you are sponsoring is a part of the official Spring Weekend schedule or not.
